Nopalita

From the spaces in between, I began to actively and consciously resist as a queer Chicana. I started to build an alter ago named “Nopalita”. Nopalita is a queer Chicanx person who is solely concerned with resisting. Resisting machismo, homophobia, marianismo, oppression as a woman, and racism. NOPALITA celebrates resilience and delves deep into the complexities of identity, belonging, and defiance through social interruptions and performances. Through the hybridization of the mexican american queer body with a cactus form, NOPALITA offers a glimpse into a world where resistance is not only a choice but a way of life
