"la division" is a series of still lifes that depict the intersectionality between identities that LGBTQ+ and Chicanx people in the United States face. These images confront issues with religion, mental health, loss of traditions and the overall disconnection with Mexican culture within the Chicanx LGBTQ+ community. Using different colored lighting to create colorful compositions with cut outs of facial features and objects that symbolize Mexican culture and LGBTQ+ experiences, these still lifes depict the queer Mexican-American experience.
